Getting involved with the community where you are moving to is important so you know what is happening around the local area as well as building friendships around you in case you ever need help with something.
... so how do I do this?
1. Greet neighbours
A great first step to getting involved in the new community is to introduce yourself to your new neighbours. You can do this by simply knocking on their door, saying hello and that you just wanted to introduce yourself. You could even place a letter in their letterbox doing this as well!
By doing this, it will build a relationship with your neighbours so you know some people around you.

2. Join a local committee
It is likely there are many committees around your new local area, some that you may be interested in or concern a hobby of yours. Committees are a great way to build relationships as well as gaining some responsibility in your community.
3. Join a sport team
If you enjoy sports, you could join a local sport team as it is likely there are many teams nearby. Joining one of these can build many relationships with people who also may live locally to you.
4. Join a gym
A local gym is a great way to make friends who live locally to you. Gyms also hold classes and workshops which is also a great thing to participate in to get involved in the community. It also helps you to stay fit and healthy!
5. Facebook groups
Many communities have their own facebook page/group that people can join and see posts about what is going on locally. You can also see people who are a part of the group and they can discuss various topics on the page. This is a great way to get involved.
